Alliston Union PS students collect nearly 100 boxes of books for St. LuciaDecember 13, 2013 Category: NewsBack to News Page

Grade 3 students at Alliston Union Public School have been learning about literacy around the world. In an effort to share resources and their love of reading, the students have collected more than 90 boxes of books for the OneWorld Schoolhouse Book Drive. The books will be sent to schools in St. Lucia.

“Our Grade 3 students have been working very hard to collect, sort and box books for our book drive,” says Greg Jacobs, Principal at Alliston Union. “The response from our school community has been incredible! The number of people who will have literacy resources in their hands because of our students is amazing, and I am very proud of the work they have done.”

The students also created messages, took photos and made videos to share their love of reading with the children in St. Lucia.

On December 19th, OneWorld representatives will visit the school to speak with the students and help load up the books for shipping. For more information on OneWorld Schoolhouse Foundation, visit
