‘Your Future in Agriculture’ allows students to explore agricultural career opportunitiesOctober 24, 2017 Category: School EventsBack to News Page

Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) students from the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) will learn about leadership and explore agricultural career opportunities at the Your Future in Agriculture event on Oct. 26.

This event, hosted by 4-H Ontario in partnership with AgScape, provides students with the opportunity to explore career options and prepare for career success.

“Our organizations have been working together for many months to uncover new opportunities to bring ag literacy to more students across the province,” says Colleen Smith, Executive Director of AgScape.

Students will participate in a leadership development activity and compete in a career exploration competition which will highlight innovations, technologies and career opportunities in agri-food.

“The SHSM program is an excellent opportunity for students to build their resume and take advantage of community-connected experiential learning,” says Justin van Diepen, Itinerant Resource Teacher. “We’re very fortunate to have the support of our community partners who mentor our students and provide them with enhanced learning opportunities.”

The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m at the Mount Forest & District Sports Complex located at 85 Princess Street in Mount Forest.
