Responsible Growth

Balanced budget supports student success

Our 2013-2014 balanced budget is fiscally responsible and makes investments for long-term student achievement and success. Highlights of the $516 million budget include:
  • funding for the Technological Education Program Renewal Project Hyde Park PS construction
  • the introduction of the French Immersion program
  • continued investments in full-day kindergarten and classroom technology

The full budget can be found in our Financial Information section.

Building great places to learn

Our Facility Services Department has had a busy year of construction and renovations. Barrie’s newest public elementary school, Hyde Park Public School, went from ground breaking to doors opening in just over a year.

Fred C. Cook Public School was completely rebuilt during the 2012-13 school year, replacing the previous school and combining it with Bradford Public School.

The new Chris Hadfield Public School has formed as a school community and will learn together in the old Bradford Public School building while the new school is being built. Construction is scheduled to start in Spring 2014.

Students of Alliston Union Public School will be stepping into a brand new replacement school starting in September 2014.

The continued rollout of full-day Kindergarten means more classroom renovations. And the technological education facilities renewal started this past year and will continue into the next school year.

Keep up-to-date with our major construction projects with our New Schools section.
