2010-2011 Report to the Community
Director’s Message
Welcome to the SCDSB’s 2010-2011 Report to the Community. We are delighted to highlight and communicate the outstanding achievements of our staff and students, and provide an outline of accomplishments the SCDSB has made in key areas such as programming, facilities, business and human resources during the past year.
We made the decision to publish a Report to the Community in September because we feel it is important to communicate the wonderful successes that occur at the SCDSB as soon as possible after the conclusion of the school year. This publication will also be linked with annual reporting data which is mandated by the Ministry of Education. As much of the required annual reporting data is not available until late in the calendar year, the Annual Report must now be released at the end of December, well after the conclusion of the previous school year. In order to meet both needs, we created this Report to the Community for an earlier release and will publish the connecting Annual Report during the 2011-2012 school year.
I hope you enjoy reviewing this new SCDSB publication and reading about how we are reaching our goals for public education, with a key focus on student achievement, well-being and learning for life. These pages are packed with a wealth of information about how we are implementing our multi-year plan, The Simcoe Path, and about what has been happening at your local public elementary and secondary schools, learning centres and SCDSB facilities throughout the past school year. Together, our trustees, staff, students, families and community members are building strong futures.
