Director’s Blog:  Perspectives Along the Path of Learning

Reflecting and Planning

It’s January already – and we are almost half-way through the school year. This offers us a time for reflection on past achievements and planning for the future.

We recently released our 2010-2011 Annual Report. This document supplements our Report to the Community, which was published in September. Both documents highlight the progress and successes achieved in our board during the past school year. At our Director’s meeting with principals and managers later this month, we will be hosting a panel discussion about the critical value of parent involvement in education. Parents who are engaged in their child’s education are essential to helping students succeed. The link between home and school is vital, and we each play a key role in connecting parents to their school communities. A great parent/school connection the SCDSB offers is our annual Circle of Learning: Conference for Parents. This year’s conference takes place on Saturday, April 21, 2012. Our Parent Involvement Committee is currently working hard on developing an engaging agenda of workshops and keynote presentations. Click here for more information about this free event.
