<item><title>Innisfil Hydro Presents SCDSB with Nearly $100,000 for Participation in Innisfil-Area School Energy Retrofit Program </title><link>http://scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news-events/?i=12592</link><description>

On January 30, 2012, the Simcoe County District School Board accepted a cheque totaling $99,106.00&amp;nbsp;from Innisfil Hydro for their participation in the saveONenergy RETROFIT program funded by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA).

The incentive amount will help support the lighting upgrades and system controls that were completed at Nantyr Shores Secondary School and Alcona Glen Elementary School in Innisfil. This upgrade will save almost 128 KW of electricity demand for an estimated $77 thousand dollars in cost savings annually.

In 2010, the Simcoe County District School Board set out to reduce energy inefficiencies by investing to retrofit the lighting at the two Innisfil schools. As a result of this investment, Nantyr Shores Secondary School and Alcona Glen Elementary School will save approximately 30% annually in electricity costs between the two schools.

&amp;ldquo;Investing in energy retrofits helps our schools reduce their environmental footprint. The benefits of this initiative are long-term,&amp;rdquo; said Rob North, Chairperson of the SCDSB. &amp;ldquo;It is important to the Simcoe County District School Board to make our learning and working environments the best they can be with the funding we receive. This energy-saving initiative helps us do that.&amp;rdquo;

&amp;ldquo;Responsible stewardship of resources is a key goal in our public education system,&amp;rdquo; said Kathi Wallace, Director of Education for the SCDSB. &amp;ldquo;By retrofitting the lighting systems in these schools we are conserving energy and saving education dollars. It is a wonderful initiative for our local schools.&amp;rdquo;

&amp;ldquo;The Simcoe County District School Board is taking action to reduce energy consumption, lower demand and standardize lighting technology throughout their portfolio of schools,&amp;rdquo; said Brenda L. Pinke CDM/Regulatory Manager, Innisfil Hydro, &amp;ldquo;Participating in the saveONenergy programs is a win/win for our business customers and our community.&amp;nbsp; To date, over 290 Innisfil business customers have participated in saveONenergy programs, reducing electricity demand and contributing to a better environment.&amp;rdquo;

The saveONenergy RETROFIT program, a province-wide program funded by the Ontario Power Authority, provides businesses, farms, commercial, industrial and institutional customers with the opportunity to receive incentives for replacing inefficient technologies.

For more information on how your business can save and participate, please visit the saveONenergy website at www.saveonenergy.ca or Innisfil Hydro website at www.innisfilhydro.com.&amp;nbsp; For specific questions about these programs, please email learntoconserve@innisfilhydro.com.
