Pay online option coming to Simcoe County public schoolsNovember 21, 2013 Category: NewsBack to News Page

​The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is offering parents the option to pay online for field trips, lunch days and other items. The SchoolCash Online program is being rolled out in stages across the county during the 2013-14 school year. Currently it is available at the following schools:

The program is intended to reduce paper, eliminate the need for students to travel with money, and for money to be counted and stored at schools. The program is integrated with the SCDSB’s financial software.
“In addition to providing the convenience of online payment, SchoolCash Online also enhances communication. Parents who sign up will receive a notification when a new item becomes available for purchase,” says Corry Van Nispen, Controller in the Business Services Department. “Items are personalized to each student. For example, if Grade 2 students are attending a field trip, the option to pay for the field trip will only be visible to parents of those students. It reduces the amount of paper travelling home from the school, and is one more way for schools to keep parents informed of the range of activities taking place.”
Parents use a secure online account to process payments. Parents can either make a one-time payment for each item as it occurs, or load money to carry a balance in the online account to make payments in the future. A credit card option is being investigated for future implementation.
To create an online account, parents can go to Parents will receive information about how to add their child to their account when the service becomes available at their school. All schools in the Simcoe County District School Board will offer the online payment option by September 2014.
