A Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) Designated Early Child Educator (DECE) has been honoured with one of 15 Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Education. Daniela Moore, a DECE at Baxter Central PS, received a Certificate of Achievement for her efforts to revitalize the Kindergarten program and her school, and for her commitment to meeting individual students’ needs using technology, cooperative learning and music.
On June 6, Moore’s students and colleagues will acknowledge this achievement with a celebration at the school. The celebration will include highlights from Moore’s nomination as well as a student musical performance.

The Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Education have honoured outstanding early childhood educators since 2002, with almost 250 educators honoured to date. Recipients are honoured for their leadership, exemplary early childhood education practices, and their commitment to help build the foundation children need to make the best possible start in life.
