French as a Second Language Program Reviews

The SCDSB offers programming options such as French as a Second Language (FSL) in our elementary and secondary schools. In some circumstances, these programs draw students from a larger geographical area than their normal attendance area. The programs are reviewed on a regular basis to help to balance enrolment across the county and to minimize impacts on home school student populations.

Mundy's Bay Public School and Huron Park Public School

A program review has been approved to balance student enrolment and to minimize impacts on home school student populations. A proposed option is splitting the FSL program, with some grades attending Mundy's Bay Public School and the others attending Huron Park Public School. Grade 7 – 12 School

In some communities, balanced enrolment is achieved by introducing a Grade 7-12 school. This helps to ensure schools maintain high enough enrolment to be viable and offer a range of programming options for students.
