The Ministry of Education announced today that the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) will receive capital funding for three new public elementary schools. These new schools will be built in Bradford, Oro-Medonte and Wasaga Beach.

With this announcement, the SCDSB has received funding for three of its top six capital priorities submitted to the Ministry of Education in September 2017 as part of the SCDSB’s revised capital priorities list.

“We are pleased that the Ministry has recognized the need in our communities,” says Peter Beacock, Chairperson of the Board. “The addition of three new elementary schools will allow us to accommodate students in areas which continue to experience growth and development.”

“We would like to thank our staff in Business and Facilities who continue to put forward strong business cases for new schools to the Ministry of Education for consideration,” notes Steve Blake, Director of Education. “The new elementary schools will help address enrolment pressures in Bradford, Oro-Medonte and Wasaga Beach.”

In addition, the ministry has approved Early Years Capital Project funding to support two child care projects located at Lake Simcoe Public School in Innisfil and Pine River Elementary School in Angus.

All approved Capital Priorities projects will be posted on the Ministry of Education’s website on January 31, 2018.

More information on school site locations, completion dates and other details will be shared as they become available.
