Harriett Todd PS literacy grant

Harriett Todd PS selected as recipient of literacy grant
Posted on 06/11/2025

Students at Harriett Todd PS in Orillia will soon see new books and literacy resources on library and classroom shelves, thanks to a grant from the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation. The school has received a $55,000 donation from the foundation’s Literacy Fund Grant.

The school was selected from hundreds of applicants as a result of their dedicated efforts in championing literacy, diversity, and inclusion. The grant will help increase the literacy infrastructure of the library and create classroom libraries, increase student literacy achievement, and foster community and student engagement.

The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation Literacy Grant Fund supports Canadian students by providing literacy support to schools across the country. In 2025, the grant is providing over $1 million in funding to 30 schools.

This initiative links directly to the SCDSB Strategic Priorities in the areas of Community and Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
