Schools battle for hockey supremacy and support their local communities at North Simcoe Cup
On Jan. 7, students from Elmvale District HS, Georgian Bay District SS, Orillia SS, Stayner CI, and Twin Lakes SS will show their school spirit and the spirit of giving at the second annual North Simcoe Cup.
Co-ed teams from each school will face off at the Wasaga Stars Arena in Wasaga Beach beginning at 8:30 a.m., with opening ceremonies at 9:15 a.m., and the championship scheduled at about 12 p.m.
To bring further energy and excitement to this event, the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) has partnered with 93.1 Fresh Radio. Fresh Mornings with Tara will be broadcasting live from the North Simcoe Cup, highlighting the students, staff, volunteers, and sponsors who helped make the event a success.
The North Simcoe Cup brings together students to celebrate school spirit and engage in friendly competition while also raising funds for local charities. This year, schools are supporting the following local organizations:
- Elmvale District HS – The Elmvale Food Bank
- Georgian Bay District SS – Georgian Bay Food Network
- Orillia SS – The Lighthouse
- Stayner CI – Clearview Food Bank
- Twin Lakes SS – The Sharing Place, Orillia
