Andrew Hunter ES students celebrate a ‘wonderful, amazing, very good day’ with win in national Munsch contest
Grade 3 students from Andrew Hunter ES in Barrie recently experienced ‘something good’ after entering the Mega Munsch Writing Challenge, a national contest offered through Annick Press. Students were tasked with writing a new ending for the classic Robert Munsch book The Paper Bag Princess.
The Andrew Hunter ES students, known as Mrs. Newburn’s and Mrs. Renton’s Writers, were awarded the prize for The Happiest New Ending, one of five awards granted through the challenge. Their submission was titled The Paper Bag Kingdom. The judges noted that “the story flows nicely from the original, we love the ecological theme, and it’s heartwarming that they’re all friends at the end.”
