Nottawa ES students, staff, and families brave the cold in support of local youth shelter
On Feb. 26, the Nottawa ES community came together to raise funds and awareness as they walked in the schoolyard for the Coldest Night of the Year.
The Nottawa Nighthawks Shelter Squad raised nearly $4,400 for Collingwood Home Horizon’s Barbara Weider House youth shelter, surpassing their goal of $1,500. Students are also learning about homelessness, budgeting, and housing struggles to help them understand the significance and importance of the Coldest Night of the Year initiative.
Home Horizon serves youth in South Georgian Bay who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness, supporting and empowering them with the resources and skills to transition into adulthood.
The Coldest Night of the Year is a winter fundraising walk in support of local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. Learn more and find a walk in your area at cnoy.org/home.
