We’re here to help.
The team within the Student and Family Support Office at the SCDSB provide families with an additional avenue to obtain support with complex questions or concerns related to their child’s education.
Process
Teachers, principals, and vice-principals continue to be the initial point of contact for parents/guardians as most matters can be quickly addressed and resolved at the school level.
The following process has been designed to help address and resolve parent/guardian concerns as quickly and effectively as possible. If you have a concern, please follow these steps in sequence:
- Gather as much information as possible, then call the school to arrange a meeting with the teacher. Most concerns can be resolved at this point through dialogue and cooperation among those involved.
- If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your meeting, call the school to arrange a meeting with the principal. With open communication and collaboration among those involved, your concern should be resolved at this point.
- If your concern has not been resolved at this point, contact the superintendent of education for your school. The superintendent of education will assist you by acting as a facilitator in attempting to resolve your concern. You may wish to put your concerns in writing at this time.
If your question or concern requires additional follow-up or assistance beyond the school level, you may access the Student and Family Support Office by completing the support request form.
