The Orillia SS (OSS) Musical Theatre presents Legally Blonde: The Musical from April 29 to May 2! The story centres around a young woman, Elle Woods, who is tired of constantly being told that she is not serious enough for the people in her life. Finally, Elle decides to become everything her ‘true love’ wants, only to find that he has already found it in someone else. However, after seeing this, she becomes even more determined to prove everyone who doubted her wrong, but is met with many different challenges, which will test her loyalty, integrity, and persistence. On this crazy journey, Elle makes many different friends, she accomplishes things she never thought she could before, and even stumbles upon a new romance, someone who truly believes in her.
The OSS Theatre Production course is offered as a double-credit course at the Grade 11 and 12 level. In this course, the cast learns how to sing, dance, and act all at once. They spend lots of time learning different vocal techniques, a ton of great choreography, as well as learning their lines and learning to act. Each cast member belongs to a production committee, so the students also contribute to everything that happens behind the scenes whether that be costumes, hair and makeup, props, or managing the set.
Along with the hard work of the cast and their amazing directors, there have been many different student and community volunteers who have given their time to ensure that the show Legally Blonde can be a success! The show features a live band that has been working tirelessly with the directors and the cast to prepare all the music for the show, which sets this apart from many other school musicals.
