Asymptomatic testing

As part of the updated health and safety measures announced by the Ministry of Education, school boards are required to conduct asymptomatic COVID-19 testing in at least five percent of schools each week. This new requirement provides an additional layer of protection to help limit the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. In the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB), testing will be delivered by LifeLabs.

Asymptomatic testing of students and staff is voluntary and parent/guardian consent is required for students 18 years of age and under. Parents/guardians will receive registration and consent information directly from their child’s school when a testing clinic will be offered to their school community.

The Ministry of Education, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and the SCDSB will be coordinating the location of testing clinics that will rotate through Simcoe County on a weekly basis.
