2019 SCDSB Idol champions

W.C. Little ES students crowned the first SCDSB Idols
Posted on 06/07/2019

On June 5, students and staff from across the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) brought their musical talents to the Education Centre in Midhurst for the finale of the first SCDSB Idol competition. The eight finalists performed, and after the judges’ deliberations, Emma and Leah Walker, a student group from W.C. Little Elementary School in Barrie, were named as the first SCDSB Idols for their performance of Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell.

With over 80 audition videos submitted, and more than 11,200 votes, it is clear that our students, staff and community are passionate about music!

Congratulations to all the students and staff who submitted audition videos, especially our finalists. Thank you to the members of the SCDSB community who support music education and showed their pride by voting for their favourite acts.

We look forward to bringing the second SCDSB Idol to schools across the board next spring. In the meantime, watch the finale on the SCDSB Facebook page.

This initiative links directly to the SCDSB’s Strategic Priorities under the pillars of excellence in teaching and learning.
