The Kempenfelt Cup is returning to the Sadlon Centre this December with two days of hockey action, school spirit, and holiday giving. Boys’ and girls’ hockey teams will participate in this annual event on Dec. 16 and 17, with games beginning at 7:30 a.m. As part of the holiday tradition, participating schools will raise funds for local charities including Barrie and Area Christmas Cheer and the Bradford Helping Hand Food Bank.
On Dec. 16, the Kempenfelt Cup – South will feature Banting Memorial HS, Bradford District HS, Nantyr Shores SS, and Nottawasaga Pines SS. Highlights of the day will include the stand dance challenge at 11:30 a.m. and cheque presentation (with mascots!) at 12:30 p.m., followed by the land acknowledgement and singing of O Canada by Bradford District HS student Grace H. Championship games are expected to be played at 12:40 and 1:05 p.m.
The Kempenfelt Cup – Central will see Barrie North CI, Bear Creek SS, Eastview SS, Innisdale SS, and Maple Ridge SS face off on Dec. 17. School mascots and event sponsors will celebrate with a cheque presentation at 11:20 a.m. The stand dance challenge will take place at 12:40 p.m., followed by the championship games.
