On Feb. 3, 2022, Andrea Khanjin, MPP for Barrie - Innisfil, announced that the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) will receive capital funding for an addition at Killarney Beach PS.
“The SCDSB is committed to creating and maintaining learning environments that support our students’ success. We appreciate the support that the Ministry of Education continues to provide as they fund capital projects,” says Jodi Lloyd, SCDSB Chairperson of the Board. “Many communities in Simcoe County are growing, and the SCDSB is growing with them. The addition at Killarney Beach PS will help accommodate the needs of the Innisfil community now and into the future.”
“This announcement is positive news for the SCDSB and for the Innisfil community. The addition at Killarney Beach PS will allow us to continue to improve our learning and teaching spaces,” says John Dance, SCDSB Director of Education. “SCDSB staff have worked diligently to help the Ministry of Education understand our needs as a growing board. We look forward to working with the Town of Innisfil and other community partners to support that growing community.”
The addition is being built to accommodate the growth needs in Innisfil, while still ensuring that area schools remain sustainable in the long term. It will add 184 pupil places and total funding for the project is $7.2 million.
