Information for families about COVID-19 (novel coronavirus)
Posted on 03/02/2020

We want to assure our school communities that the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is committed to the health and safety of our students and staff. We continue to monitor the situation with regards to COVID-19 (novel coronavirus). We work closely with, and take our direction from, the local health authority – the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU).

At this time, the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health continues to indicate that the risk to Ontarians in contracting the COVID-19 remains low.

The SMDHU has provided the following tips on how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses:

  • wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
  • sneeze and cough into your sleeve;
  • avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth;
  • avoid contact with people who are sick; and,
  • stay home if you are sick.
