The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is holding the 36th Model United Nations (UN) event on April 29. Over 170 students representing nine SCDSB secondary schools are expected to participate in this student-run event, debating the issues of artificial intelligence and global security, fast fashion, and gender equality.
Each student will assume the role of a delegate representing a different country from one of five regions around the world. The delegate will represent and debate the interests, beliefs, and ideals of their respective country in small regional groups. Students will then present their country’s stance on the issues in a general assembly of delegates.
The Model UN runs from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the SCDSB Education Centre, located at 1170 Highway 26 in Midhurst.
This initiative links directly to the SCDSB Strategic Priorities in the area of Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
