In fall 2025, the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is opening a new elementary school in Oro-Medonte. On May 28, the SCDSB Board of Trustees took the next step towards forming this new school community, approving the name – Horseshoe Heights Public School.
The school community was engaged in the naming of the school based on SCDSB Policy 4440 – Naming of Schools. Members of the school community were invited to submit ideas through a comprehensive consultation process, considering the environmental setting, the community’s geographic history, and the diversity of the school community. One hundred unique name submissions were received.
Submissions were reviewed by the School Naming Committee, which included students, parents/guardians, SCDSB representatives, a member of the Oro-Medonte municipal council, and a community member.
