Plant sale

Plant sales set to bloom at Banting Memorial HS and Stayner CI on May 13
Posted on 05/03/2023
On Saturday, May 13 students and staff from the Green Industries program at Banting Memorial HS  and Stayner CI are holding plant sales for members of the community. Proceeds from the sales will support the Green Industries programs at the schools, which enable students to experience agriculture in a variety of forms.

At Banting Memorial HS, gardeners are invited to shop the sale in the school greenhouse at the back of the school from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. To support community members in getting their gardens ready for summer, students have been seeding, transplanting, and caring for a variety of annuals, native flowers, and succulents. Some of the species available for purchase include lavender, white petunia, red salvia, tomatoes, peppers, milkweed, and pincushion flower. While visiting the greenhouse, community members may also meet some of the animals that students in the Green Industries program care for throughout the school year.

The Green Industries staff and students at Banting Memorial HS would like to thank Stems Flower Farm in Cookstown for their support of the program and their donation of seeds to grow plants for the sale.

At Stayner CI, gardeners can shop the sale in the school greenhouse from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The student-grown plants and seedlings include annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, house plants, and vegetables such as tomatoes and peppers.
