Report from Student Trustees
Student Trustee Simmons provided an update on behalf of the student trustees. Student Trustee Simmons shared that the student trustee think tank, named SCDSB Student Talks, has been aimed at maximizing student knowledge across the board about mental health, well-being, student governance, and belonging through a compilation of videos. Student Trustee Simmons shared that the video series has been shared with the Student Senate, along with students across the board, to gauge feedback and improvement.

- Trustee Grummett thanked the outgoing student trustees for their contributions as representatives of students from across the SCDSB. Trustee Grummett congratulated Student Trustees Vishid Lad, J’Dae Simmons, and Aubrey Shaw and wished them well in the next phase of their educational journey.

Trustee Tribute
Trustee Foley presented Vera Jane Peck, community member, with the Trustee Tribute. Vera Jane Peck was recognized for her contributions to the community, specifically the high school lunch program and community cupboard which provides free food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and clothing for those in need. Trustee Foley noted that the high school lunch program served an average of 250 to 350 students from Collingwood each day.

Trustee Foley presented Mat Reive, Computer Engineering, Robotics, and Computer Science teacher and Technological Education curriculum leader at Collingwood Collegiate Institute, with the Trustee Tribute. Mr. Reive was recognized for his contributions to technological education at the SCDSB and the impact he has had on the lives of so many SCDSB students. Trustee Foley shared that Mr. Reive has also been recognized by the Ontario Council for Technological Education with their Excellence in Teaching Award.

Report from the Closed Session of the Board in Committee of the Whole
The Board ratified the following recommendation taken in the closed session meeting of the Committee of the Whole on Wednesday, June 18, 2025:
- That the Board approve the terms and conditions reached with the local principals and vice principals for the term Sept. 1, 2023, to Aug. 31, 2027 as set out in Report No. CL-B-2-a, Board Approval of the General Terms and Conditions for Principals and Vice-principals in the Simcoe County District School Board, dated June 18, 2025.

D-2-a Notice of Motion Re: Support for recommendations outlined within the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s Dream Delayed Report
The Board approved the following motion:
- The Simcoe County District School Board strongly supports the recommendations outlined within the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s (OHRC) report Dreams Delayed: Addressing Systemic Anti-Black Racism and Discrimination in Ontario’s Public Education System.
And that
The Director of Education report back to the Board of Trustees with a thoughtful and comprehensive plan to address recommendations contained in the report at a school and board level.
D-5-a Appointment of Student Trustee Mentor
The Board approved the following motion:
- That the Board appoint Trustee Grummett to serve as the student trustee mentor from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026, as set out in Report No. D-5-a, Appointment of Student Trustee Mentor, dated June 18, 2025.
Questions and Comments from Trustees
Trustee Lloyd recognized Trustee Armstrong for 25 years of service as a trustee with the SCDSB. Trustee Lloyd commended Trustee Armstrong for her dedication to public education and commitment to the SCDSB. Trustee Lloyd shared that Trustee Armstrong is also the recipient of the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association’s (OPSBA) President’s Award. The OPSBA President’s Award recognizes 25 years of service in public education as a trustee.
Reports/Updates from Staff
Dawn Stephens, Director of Education, thanked the Board of Trustees for a wonderful second half of the school year and for their efforts in promoting confidence in public education. Director Stephens noted that she is proud to be the Director of Education for the SCDSB because of the amazing and committed staff. Director Stephens congratulated the SCDSB graduates and wished them well in their future endeavours.
