Posted on 05/29/2026

Members of the public who are interested in running as a Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) trustee in the upcoming municipal election are invited to an information session on June 11, 2026.

Date: Thursday, June 11
Time: 6 to 7 p.m.
Location: Virtual Teams meeting

To register for the information session, please contact Jennifer Henry, Executive Assistant to the Board, by email at [email protected] or by phone at 705-734-6363 ext. 11231. A link to join the information session will be shared with individuals once they are registered. Registration for the information session will close at noon on June 11.

This session, led by SCDSB staff and current SCDSB trustees, will:

  • outline the role and responsibilities of trustees, including the time commitment required
  • explain the distinction between Board governance and day-to-day operations
  • provide participants with the opportunity to ask questions about the role of trustee

Individuals who register for the information session are invited to email questions regarding the role of trustee to Jennifer Henry in advance, so that responses can be provided at the session.

Trustees are elected during municipal elections every four years and are directly accountable to the community. The next municipal election is October 26. The new Board of Trustees will serve from Nov. 15, 2026 to Nov. 14, 2030.

Individuals interested in running for trustee should submit their nomination to the lead municipal office, which is the municipality with the higher population of electors. Nominations may be submitted until Aug. 21, 2026 at 2 p.m. Visit our election page for more information on how to run, who is eligible to run, and the process.
