Nottawa ES teacher receives Prime Minister’s award
A Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) teacher has been honoured with one of 35 Prime Minister’s Awards for Teaching Excellence. Pareen Gill, a Grade 3 teacher at Nottawa Elementary School, received a Certificate of Achievement for her efforts to bring out the personal best in each student, profiling character strengths and boosting areas for improvement by asking students to identify where they can continue to grow.
“We congratulate Ms. Gill for her dedication to student well-being,” says Michael Giffen, SCDSB Superintendent of Education. “This award of excellence recognizes her commitment to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive classroom for her students. She promotes student and staff wellness in a variety of ways as a valued member of the Nottawa Elementary School team.”
A summary of Gill’s nomination, including some classroom strategies and outstanding achievements, has been shared on the Government of Canada’s website.
On May 30 at 9:15 a.m., Gill’s students and colleagues will acknowledge this achievement with a celebration at the school. Nottawa Elementary School is located at 81 Batteaux Road, R.R. #2, Collingwood.
The Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence have honoured exceptional elementary and secondary school teachers in all disciplines since 1994, with over 1,600 teachers honoured to date. Teaching Excellence Awards recipients are honoured for their remarkable achievements in education and for their commitment to preparing their students for a digital and innovation-based economy.
