New Collingwood Learning Centre location to open in advance of the new school year

On Aug. 19, the Collingwood Learning Centre will open in a new location, at 485 Second Street in Collingwood. The centre will continue to offer a range of educational opportunities for adults, including workplace and college-level credit courses in English, math and social sciences, English as a Second Language programs and the Literacy and Essential Skills program. University-level credit courses are available through the centre via correspondence.

The new location is expected to provide increased access and convenience to clients and members of the community. Learning Centre staff will have greater ability to streamline supports provided to students and community members, including direct connections with Georgian Learning, Ontario Works and Simcoe Community Housing, who are also located in the building.

Current students and interested members of the community are invited to visit the Collingwood Learning Centre to learn more about available programs and services beginning Aug. 19. The first term of the 2019-20 school year begins Sept. 9.

Since 1997-98, more than 1,000 adults have completed their Ontario Secondary School Diploma at the Collingwood Learning Centre, while many others have improved their skills, leading to employment, apprenticeships and personal enrichment. The former Learning Centre site at 180 Ontario Street will continue to house the Collingwood campus of Simcoe Shores Secondary School.
