SCDSB educators receive Prime Minister’s awards

Two Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) educators have been honoured with Prime Minister’s awards for excellence. Kim Posluns, a designated early childhood educator (DECE) from Maple Grove Public School, received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Early Childhood Education. Mark Gaynik, teacher at Nantyr Shores Secondary School, received a Certificate of Achievement as part of the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

“We congratulate Ms. Posluns for her commitment to student independence and success,” states Superintendent of Education Stuart Finlayson. “The support she provides for our youngest students gives them a firm foundation for their future educational successes.”

“As the creator of the Enviroventure program, Mr. Gaynik has created lasting change within his students and for our environment,” says Superintendent of Education Dean Maltby. “His leadership and knowledge are invaluable, and we are proud to acknowledge this achievement.”

Summaries of Poslun and Gaynik’s nominations, including some classroom strategies and outstanding achievements, have been shared on the Government of Canada’s website.
