Published on Apr 20, 2021 16:06

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is looking for volunteers interested in serving on the Accessibility Advisory Committee. People with disabilities and members of families of people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. The Accessibility Advisory Committee is a group of volunteers, partners and SCDSB staff who work together to support the board in removing physical barriers to accessibility in our schools.

Members of the Accessibility Advisory Committee fulfil a variety of activities including:

  • advising on the preparation, implementation and effectiveness of the board’s annual accessibility plan
  • reviewing and advising on accessibility issues relating to identified facilities
  • advising on other accessibility issues within SCDSB schools

To be eligible, applicants must be a resident of the County of Simcoe and over 18 years of age. Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2005, the majority of committee members shall include people with disabilities. The committee meets five times throughout the year and completes school accessibility audits twice a year.

Interested individuals are invited to apply to be a member of the SCDSB Accessibility Advisory Committee by sending a letter of interest by April 30, 2021, to Carrie Rumble at [email protected] or by mail to:
