Bear Creek Secondary School team receives Inclusion Excellence Award

Simcoe Community Services believes that “Kids Belong Together.” The Simcoe Community Services Inclusion Excellence awards are presented annually to educators and students who promote and exemplify inclusive school environments.
The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) educator team at Bear Creek Secondary School was recently presented with an Inclusion Excellence Award from Simcoe Community Services. Jennie Marshall, a Special Education Consultant with the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) was also recognized with this award in May.

“Bear Creek’s ASD program has created a learning culture built on a foundation of caring, acceptance, individualization and inclusion,” says Chris Samis, Superintendent of Program and Special Education, SCDSB. “The staff who work in this program exemplify many of the SCDSB’s character attributes, including optimism, integrity, caring and inclusiveness. Their commitment to children and youth with special education needs is inspiring.”
