Educators get to ‘snow’ more about outdoor learning and teaching at ‘Mittens in the Snow’

Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) educators and their child care partners will take part in an outdoor education conference Jan. 26 at the Tiffin Centre for Conservation.

Mittens in the Snow will feature hands-on workshops and presentations exploring topics like mindfulness, naturalized outdoor play, basic wildlife tracking, snow shelter building and snow survival, traditional First Nations games and more. Educators from Kindergarten to Grade 12 will be in attendance.

Intermediate and senior level teachers will participate in Project WILD and Below Zero facilitation programs through the Canadian Wildlife Federation.

Mittens in the Snow aims to be a zero-waste event, so attendees are encouraged to bring their own dishes, cutlery, water bottles and anything else that would normally generate waste.
