Banting Memorial High School plant sale set to bloom on May 13
On Saturday, May 13 students and staff from the Green Industries program at Banting Memorial HS are holding a plant sale for members of the community. Gardeners are invited to shop the sale in the school greenhouse at the back of the school from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
To support community members in getting their gardens ready for summer, students have been seeding, transplanting, and caring for a variety of annuals, native flowers, and succulents. Some of the species available for purchase include lavender, white petunia, red salvia, tomatoes, peppers, milkweed, and pincushion flower.
Proceeds from the sale will support the Green Industries program, which enables students to experience agriculture in a variety of forms. While visiting the greenhouse, community members may also meet some of the animals that students in the Green Industries program care for throughout the school year.
The Green Industries staff and students would like to thank Stems Flower Farm in Cookstown for their support of the program and their donation of seeds to grow plants for the sale.
This initiative links directly to the SCDSB Strategic Priorities in the areas of Community and Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
