Kindergarten Connections - November 2023

Hello future Kindergarten families!
Kindergarten registration formally occurs in January for school entry the following September. As we get closer to that date, you may wish to begin collecting the following documents that will be required during the registration process:
- Proof of birth date
- Proof of residency
- Record of immunization – to assist the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit in meeting its requirement under the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA)

Speech and language development is one of the most critical school readiness skills. This resource from RVH Early Screening Matters highlights the skills that are appropriate at each age. Early identification is key; don’t wait!
Independence skills will empower your child in the classroom. To support your child in feeling competent and capable in their new school environment, begin encouraging them to put on and take off shoes, coats and outdoor clothing, to dress themself, and encourage independence in the washroom.
