Registering for the school year

Parents/guardians looking to register your child for the first time at a SCDSB school can complete the student registration form online.

Notice regarding registration for the 2020-21 school year

As announced on May 19, all publicly funded schools in Ontario will remain
closed for the duration of the 2019-20 school year, in response to COVID-19. While school offices are closed, we are unable to schedule in-school meetings to complete the formal registration process. Please know, online registration applications have been received and we will be working to schedule students into classrooms for the 2020-2021 school year.

When school offices re-open, you will be required to come to the school in person and finalize the formal registration process. At that time, you will be required to show original documentation verifying your child’s date of birth, home address and Canadian citizenship or residency status. We will schedule appointments and provide further details when information becomes available.

Completing the online registration application

Step 1: Create a SCDSB Community Account or log into your existing SCDSB Community Account. You can also go directly to the Online Student Registration Application without creating/logging into a SCDSB Community Account. NOTE: If you create a SCDSB Community Account you will be able to access your registration application at any time allowing you to complete the form in multiple sittings. If you do not create a SCDSB Community Account, you may still complete and submit a registration application, however the application must be completed in one sitting.

Step 2: Complete the online registration application form. Electronically sign the form and submit it. Your registration application will be directed to the student’s designated school based on the student’s home address and registering grade level. Submitting the online form is only an application to register. Registering parents/guardians must meet with the school and present all required registration documents.

Step 3: The registering school will contact you to arrange an in-person meeting at the school to finalize the registration process. You will be required to present all required registration documents at the school during this meeting. The school will verify the information on the registration application and review the required registration documents. Once complete, your child will be enrolled at their designated school. NOTE: SCDSB schools are closed during the summer months and will reopen on August 26.

The SCDSB recognizes that access to the internet and/or computer may be challenging in some cases. As such, we have equipped all schools with a computer located at the main office that are accessible to parents/guardians who wish to complete the registration form online. We will continue to accept paper copies of the student registration form.
