Kindergarten Connections - December 2023

Hello future Kindergarten families!
It?s almost time to register for Kindergarten in the Simcoe County District School Board! Please check our November email for a list of documents that are required for registration in January.
Your local public library has so much to explore. Visit them to find books, movies, games, technology, and all sorts of programming designed to capture the imagination, teach skills, and discover new things. Libraries offer story time, activities for children, and supports from staff to help find materials to catch your beginner reader's interests. Libraries have something for everyone to help foster a lifelong love of learning!
In search for some great books to look at with your child about the colder weather? Check out these titles during your library visits:
- Over and Under the Snow by Kate Messner
- The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats
- Snowballs by Lois Ehlert
Exploring books through storytelling or reading is the best way to prepare children to learn to read. It will help them develop a wide range of language skills needed for success in school and throughout life. Discuss the story, look at the pictures, share the same story over and over, talk about ideas and new words, use funny voices, laugh, snuggle, and have fun!
