Grade 1 French Immersion Application

The SCDSB offers French Immersion (FI) at select schools throughout Simcoe County beginning in Grade 1.

Applications for entry into Grade 1 of the FI program for the 2021-22 school year are currently closed. Entry into the FI program is determined through a digitally randomized lottery system. When applications are open, you will find the application link on this page.

Enrolment into the FI Program in Grade 1 is limited to a maximum of 40 students per designated FI site. While every effort is made to accommodate all FI applications, available space and staffing will determine how many students can be registered. Parent(s)/guardian(s) can contact their school in advance if they do not have Internet access at home or require assistance accessing the online application.

NOTE: The designated sites for FI may change during the program, which may also include splitting the program between two different sites.

Information for families

Historically, in-person Grade 1 FI Family Information Nights are held annually in advance of the application process for the following school year. This year, due to restrictions to large-group public gatherings, in-person Family Information Nights will not be held. In lieu of this, information has been provided to allow families the ability to access and learn about the program and the application process.
