Bear Creek SS student Raymond Guo has been selected as the recipient of a Schulich Leader Scholarship Fund scholarship. These scholarships are awarded to 100 high school graduates from across Canada who are enrolling in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) program. Guo has been awarded a $120,000 scholarship to pursue engineering studies at Queen’s University.

“Raymond is strong-willed, hardworking, and has an almost infinite amount of respect for staff and fellow classmates. He is always willing to help others and assists his classmates academically in the classroom setting,” says Chris Hogg, teacher at Bear Creek SS. “Raymond is a positive influence on his peers and is an absolute pleasure to teach.”

The Schulich Leader Scholarship Fund was established in 2012 by businessman and philanthropist Seymour Schulich in recognition of the increasing importance and impact that STEM disciplines will have on the prosperity of future generations.

This initiative links directly to the SCDSB Strategic Priorities in the areas of Community and Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
