Parent Involvement Committee

The Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) is a county-wide advisory committee. The committee works with SCDSB staff and trustees to support student success through parent engagement.

The PIC helps to build parent engagement within the SCDSB by:
  • communicating with and supporting school councils

  • providing information and advice to trustees and SCDSB staff on parent engagement

  • providing events or information to help parents support their children's learning at home and school

The PIC is made up of parent and community representatives from across Simcoe County. Members serve for a two-year term, with the option of renewing for an additional two years.

The committee also includes staff, who are non-voting members, and trustees, who are appointed to the committee annually by the Board of Trustees.

The PIC meets at least four times per year at the SCDSB Education Centre. Meeting agendas and minutes are posted on our Board and Committee Meetings page. All meetings are open to the public.

Feelin' Good February: a virtual workshop series

In February 2021 the SCDSB, in partnership with the PIC, invited members of our community to join us for Feelin’ Good February. In this virtual workshop series participants had the opportunity to connect with SCDSB staff and community partners to learn how they can foster positive mental health and well-being for themselves and others.
