Gardens
How many plants can you count? How did you count them? What is the perimeter of the garden? What is the area of the garden? If you changed the perimeter how would the area change? What shape are the gardens? What other shapes could we use for gardens?

Buildings
How tall do you think the building is? How could we measure it? How many windows do you see? What shapes do you see? Where do you see symmetry? How many stairs might you climb if you had to go up to the top floor and back down twice a day for a week? The parking lot charges $12 a day. How much money is the parking lot making in a week? In a year?

On the Road
Our trip will take us 75 minutes. If we start at this time, when will we get there? How many white cars go past us? What’s the biggest number we see on a license plate? What is the probability that you will see a certain type of vehicle? How much gas will we use? How much will it cost? What fraction of a tank of gas is this?

At the Park
What shapes do you see at the playground? How long is the slide? What angles do you see? Do you see symmetry? Do you see patterns?

How many train cars are there? How long is the train? How heavy do you think the train is? How long is the return trip? How fast does the train travel? How many wheels do you see?
