Rotary Book Day

Rotary Club of Barrie supports literacy with annual Rotary Book Day
Posted on 11/15/2022
On Nov. 16, over 1,130 Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) Grade 2 students will receive copies of Andy & Elmer’s Apple Dumpling Adventure, thanks to a donation by the Rotary Club of Barrie. Schools will have the option of inviting Rotarians to visit their school for a read-along, or to watch a video recording of Rotary mascot Sprocket reading the book.

Mike Grube, Rotary’s Director of Program and Information, will visit Portage View Public School at 10 a.m. to deliver the books and read the story to students.

Aligned with the SCDSB’s character education program, Andy & Elmer’s Apple Dumpling Adventure is a story of a young entrepreneur named Andy who, with the help of a mysterious voice providing guidance and support, learns the value of truthfulness, fairness, goodwill, and partnerships that benefit everyone involved.

On Rotary Book Day, Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Barrie will coordinate the delivery of books and reading of books to students at schools throughout Barrie and Innisfil.
