The Schulich Leader Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to entrepreneurial-minded high school graduates from across Canada who are enrolling in a science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) program. The SCDSB is holding its first student census from April 1 to 30. The confidential SCDSB Student Census 2020-2021 is an important tool that will be used to collect identity-based student data so that systemic barriers can be identified.

Today, the Ministry of Education announced that the March Break has been deferred in response to COVID-19. Therefore, schools will remain open for student learning from March 15 to 19, 2021, and students enrolled in the Learn@Home program will continue to attend class virtually.

On January 20, the Ontario government announced that all schools in Simcoe County will continue to remain closed in response to COVID-19. As a result, all Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) students will continue to participate in remote learning. Current arrangements to support students in special education classes will continue.

As we end the second week of this remote learning period, we wanted to reach out to express our pride in what Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) students, staff and families have been able to accomplish.

Staff members and community partners are invited to connect virtually on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. to learn from, and with, others at the Simcoe County District School Board’s (SCDSB) virtual outdoor education conference, Virtually Winter.

On January 12, the Ontario government declared a second provincial state of emergency to address COVID-19, and issued a stay-at-home order commencing Thursday, January 14.

On March 20, 2020, the Ministry of Education launched Learn at Home. This new online portal provides resources for families in order for students to continue learning while schools are closed.

On March 17, the Minister of Education announced that the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) Assessments for the 2019-2020 school year are cancelled.

Today, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) issued a letter to parents/guardians with additional requirements for families with children who travel outside of Canada.

The Premier’s Office has announced that it will close all publicly funded schools in Ontario from March 14 to April 5, 2020, in response to COVID-19.
